Just over a year ago I handed in my notice, leaving my teaching career of 15 years. No job to go to. But with the very clear vision of not stepping back in the classroom. Ever! It had been a while since I had been so adventurous. In fact I thought I was immovably fixed on this career, but I felt it was time to go. I loved teaching, every unpredictable moment of it. In fact, if I could have just taught, I probably would still be in the job. No, the teaching was fine; it was the pettiness of adults under stress, the politics of those wanting to climb up, nepotism and the pointless hours of paperwork. Finally free from the labours of teaching, I felt an unpredictable mix of emotions (which couldn't have been easy to live with). I have been through them all, a bit like the film "Inside out". After a break of about 6 months, I have now settled on tutoring. I work for myself. Self-employed. I do what I want, for how much I want, when I want. It is bliss! I have saved for many years and have a financial cushion and I also have a supportive partner. Without these two things, I confess, I probably wouldn't have left.

Generally found pontificating on life and trying to find the path of least resistance.
